The sound quality is, in my opinion, as good as my "V-Moda ear buds" but not quite up to Bose or Sennheiser standards. But, let's face it; if you are listening to compressed MP3 audio tracks, you aren't the sort of person who wants absolute perfection. You just want good, affordable sound, yes? And these sound a heck of a lot better than the earphones supplied with your iPod and cut out external noise better.
So what's all that technospeak mean? The sensitivity tells you what volume sound is produced by a tiny 1 milliWatt input signal. The measurement is in deciBels (dB) which is a logarithmic scale. So 103 dB is TWICE as loud as 100dB. Check out rivals to see how sensitive they are! The maximum input power tells you how much you can pump up the volume without significant distortion. 50 milliWatts is a BIG number. (Some rivals tolerate only 5 milliWatts before they crackle and pop). Silicone earbuds seal out external sounds, so you can play at a lower volume to protect your hearing. Coloured black so it's not obvious that you have an iPod (less chance of being mugged!) The 10mm speaker size ensures that bass frequencies are reproduced faithfully. The drums sound like drums - not somebody tapping a biscuit tin. The bass guitar sounds smooth. In fact the bass is so strong that you'll probably have to set your iPod equaliser to "Classical" instead of "Rock". I promise you won't be disappointed.
